2 Crucial Reasons Why the Dallas Cowboys Lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

DALLAS, Tx. (FNN SPORTS) – With the first three games of the preseason, the Cowboys were very impressive. With a 2-1 preseason record heading into the regular season, this team looked like they can be a true Super Bowl contender. In Thursday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Cowboys lost in a close battle 17-15. But despite not playing Dak Prescott,  Amari Cooper, or Ezekiel Elliott (who decided not to play this season if he doesn’t receive a huge contract), the Cowboys’ gave a decent overall performance.

The Cowboys started off strong for the first few minutes of the game. Cornerback Donovan Olumba intercepted a pass from Buccaneers’ backup quarterback Ryan Griffin, which gave the defense an extra boost and momentum heading into the game. With the Cowboys leading 6-0, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came back with a touchdown pass from quarterback Ryan Griffin to tight end Tanner Hudson, which gave them a 7-6 lead. Throughout the game, it was a back-and-forth between the two teams. This fest can be described as both a “defensive battle” and a “tug-of-war.” At the end of the day, the Dallas Cowboys lost it.

When watching the game, I noticed that there are some areas that the Cowboys need to improve in, the two biggest being their offensive line and their defensive backs. For the duration of the Dallas Cowboys franchise, they have been known to have one of the greatest offensive lines of all time. All through the game, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive line and linebackers were destroying the Cowboys offensive line, which allowed around 20-26 sacks. If the offensive line improves, their offense will be dangerous. On defense, the Cowboys ranked 6th in total defense last year. For them to win games, their DBs need to make an impact and get on one accord.

In conclusion, in order for the Dallas Cowboys to make the playoffs and win a Super Bowl this season, they’ll need those two things more than anything else: an improved offensive line, and for their defensive backs to step up and synch up.
