ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – The red carpet rolled out for Special Olympics Florida’s Annual Champion’s Gala held at the Four Seasons Resort at Walt Disney World Orlando Saturday night. Local celebrities and special guests enjoyed an evening of high dining, a silent auction and live entertainment, inlcuding from Florida’s own Sisaundra Lewis. Several awards were given out to Special Olympic athletes, coaches and volunteers, including “Athlete of the Year” and “Coach of the Year.”
$200,000 was raised at the gala, with all proceeds benefitting Special Olympics Florida, an organization dedicated to providing year-round training and athletic programs to more than 48,000 athletes across the state of Florida. “We’re always looking for new opportunities that take our athletes to the next level,” Special Olympics Florida President & CEO Sherry Wheelock told FNN News Saturday.
