ORLANDO, FL (FNN Sports) – Bethune-Cookman University’s Wildcats came fully focused to defend their winning streak against the Florida A&M University Rattlers at the Orlando Citrus Bowl Saturday, November 21 and successfully did—despite the pouring rain. The B-CU Wildcats beat the FAMU Rattlers 35-14, a sweet first taste of victory for new B-CU head coach Terry Sims and a fitting farewell for quarterback Quentin Williams, who ended his regular season and played his final Florida Classic game scoring four touchdowns.
B-CU was not the day’s only victor, however. The Florida Classic Consortium received a $137,500 donation from Orange County Government, presented by Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs and County District 6 Commissioner Victoria Siplin. The City of Orlando donated $121,000, presented by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, City District 5 Commissioner Regina Hill, and City District 6 Commissioner Samuel B. Ings.
The 2015 Florida Blue Florida Classic was the thriller fans traveling from across the state and nation expected it to be, including the kickoff luncheon Friday afternoon at the Rosen Centre on International Drive in Orlando, the electric Battle of the Bands in Downtown Orlando’s Amway Center Friday night that showcased some of the nation’s most tenacious high school marching bands and even went as far south as the Bahamas, and the halftime performances from the B-CU Wildcats and FAMU Rattlers bands on game day Saturday.
