ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN SPORTS) – The Orlando Magic spent the 6th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft on Texas Freshman Center Mohamed Bamba. The Harlem, New York native has the largest wingspan of any player in the Draft class. He averaged 12.9 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.7 blocks in his one season in college.
He joins a front line that includes Nikola Vucevic, Bismack Biyombo and Khem Burch at the Center position. What he brings to the Magic is that he’s an elite shot blocker and rim protector. His 3.7 blocks per game placed him 2nd in the NCAA.
Bamba said during his interview on ESPN that the team told him that he would contribute right away.
Bamba was named to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team, Big 12 All-Newcomer Team and was selected as a 2nd team in the Big 12 All-Conference selection.
