FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – The Flagler County Republican Club BBQ was declared the “official kickoff to the 2018 Florida midterm elections” by Florida Republican Party Chairman Blaise Ingoglia on Saturday, August 19th. Surrounded by over a hundred patriots Ingoglia cut a ceremonial red, white and blue ribbon to signify the push toward 2018 where Florida will elect a new governor among other positions throughout the state. “It’s time to come together,” he stated.
There were multiple candidates for public office at the celebration including Paul Paulson, Orange County Republican State Committeeman and candidate for Florida Agriculture Commissioner, as well as candidates for Governor and various other political seats. The event was organized by Flagler County Republican Club Chairman Danielle Anderson.
In addition to traditional hamburgers, hot dogs and fellowship, there was an old time pie and cake competition. The winners of the Junior division, Best Cake and Best Pie were ironically all from the same family.
Suzanne Johnston’s chocolate raspberry mousse cake (below) won Best Cake.
Her daughter Suzanne Johnston’s apple pie won for Best Pie (below).
Her eight-year-old daughter’s chocolate butter pie (below) won Junior Division.
As a judge for the competition, I can assure you the winners deserved their accolades. A great time had by all.
