Orlando, Fla. (FNN Sports) — FSU and Ole Miss will kick off the series to open the college football season on Sept. 5, 2016 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
The Rebels at one point last year looked poised to win the SEC West, having taken down Alabama on the road, but that possibility quickly disappeared with bad road losses at Florida and Memphis. Their defense then completely fell apart in a 53-52 loss to Arkansas late in the season. But after a bowl win over OK State, Ole Miss still finished with a respectable 10-3 record, and there’s no reason they can’t hit that mark again.
Florida State fans came into the 2015 season with tempered expectations and were pleasantly rewarded with a 10-3 record and a trip to a meaningful bowl game. The Seminoles have tremendous players on both sides of the ball, but may be facing some question marks at quarterback in 2016.
2016 Team Odds:
FSU will face in 2016, Ole Miss was the only team to see its odds improve, as the Rebs are now tied with Florida State at 20/1 (they were previously at 22/1). Florida dropped from 33/1 to 40/1, and Louisville held at 50/1. Also seeing longer odds are North Carolina (50/1 to 66/1), Miami (66/1 to 75/1), and North Carolina State (100/1 to 200/1).
FSU has their season win total posted at 10 (-105/-125), which is a very reasonable number considering their recent track record. Since Jimbo Fisher took over in Tallahassee ahead of the 2010 season, FSU has won at least 10 games in all but one campaign.
