ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – Orange Soil & Water Conservation Chair Eric Rollings officially kicked off his candidacy for Orange County Commissioner, District 3 outside of the Orange County Government Administration Building Thursday morning.
Pete Clarke is the current Commissioner representing Orange County District 3. Clarke recently filed paperwork to run for Orange County Mayor.
Rollings was introduced by Florida State Senator Linda Stewart (D-Orlando) to an audience of nearly 70 supporters and well wishers for his 2020 campaign.
Rollings is the only candidate to officially file paperwork to run for any office in 2020.
Orange County commissioners serve four-year terms. They are limited to two terms due to term limits. They make about $95,000, have an office staff and budget, and public meetings every Tuesday at the Orange County Commissioners Chamber.
The seat terms are staggered. In 2020, the odd-numbered seats on the seven-member board are up.
Whose seats are those? Commissioners Betsy VanderLey, District 1, Pete Carke, District 3, and Emily Bonilla, District 5.
However, Commission seats for Districts 2, 4, and 6 are up for election in 2018.
