VIDEO | ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – Flanked by educators and supporters, Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs announced her candidacy for Orange County School Board Chair outside of the Orange County Supervisor of Elections headquarters Wednesday afternoon.
Jacobs cannot run for a third term as mayor due to term limits. The Orange County mayor said she plans to use her former position to raise the profile of Orange County Public Schools.
“Please give me four more years to see what I can do to make Orange County schools the best school district in Florida,” Jacobs said.
Bill Sublette, the current School Board Chair, will not seek reelection.
Jacobs will face challengers Matthew John Fitzpatrick, Robert Allen Prater, and Nancy Robbinson to become the next School Board Chair for Orange County Public Schools.
The primary election is set for August 28, 2018.
