FLORIDA NATIONAL NEWS (FNN NEWS) CONTRIBUTOR GUIDELINES
If you’d like to download these guidelines, you can access the PDF version here: FNN News Contributor Guidelines 2018. Otherwise, please continue reading below.
Florida National News (FNN) is seeking timely, investigative, and engaging submissions in the categories of entertainment, sports, politics, business, and luxury lifestyle (including health and fitness, food and drink, nightlife, and luxury living). We accept both objective news stories and opinion-editorial (op-ed) pieces.
Submission Guidelines:
- Ideal Length: 800 to 1,000 words.
- How to Submit: Email your story pitch or content idea to info@floridanationalnews.com.
FNN NEWSROOM:
Our Managing Editor or Assignment Editors will review your email and let you know within a reasonable timeframe if your submission is being considered. If you don’t hear back in that time, you are free to submit your article elsewhere. Please note that while all submissions are read, the volume we receive prevents us from responding to everyone.
News Coverage and Assignments:
- The FNN Assignment Editor manages daily news coverage and assigns stories to contributors. This role includes making decisions on which stories to cover, coordinating resources, and ensuring that contributors meet deadlines while maintaining FNN’s journalistic standards.
- Self-assignment is strictly prohibited for contributors—assignments must be issued by an FNN editor.
Use of FNN Credentials:
- FNN IDs are the exclusive property of Florida National News and FNN News Network.
- FNN IDs are only to be used during written and authorized assignments approved by the editor, publisher, VP, or President. Any misuse will result in the revocation of FNN credentials by the FNN Publisher or President.
Key Policies for Contributors:
- Intellectual Property Rights:
- Florida National News retains full copyright to all content produced while on assignment (including articles, videos, interviews, edits, and photos).
- If you wish to repurpose content elsewhere, submit a request via email with the subject “Republish Request” to info@floridanationalnews.com.
- Content Turnaround:
- For time-sensitive stories, submissions must be delivered within 4 hours of completion.
- Send your work directly to info@floridanationalnews.com.
- Plagiarism:
- FNN enforces a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism. This includes copying content from websites, submitting someone else’s work as your own, or using their ideas without proper attribution.
- Website Access:
- After three published assignments, contributors will receive access to the FNN website, where they can upload their work as drafts for review and publishing.
- Contributor Profiles:
- Contributors must have a professional bio and headshot for their user profile.
- For collaborative pieces, the lead author’s name will be listed, with others credited in the byline.
- Calls to Action (CTAs):
- All posts should end with a call to action to engage the audience (e.g., requesting comments, shares, or registration links).
- Links:
- Limit links to no more than three per article. Appropriate links include research data, relevant articles, or resources valuable to readers.
- Internal Communication:
- Any issues, requests, or questions should be directed to FNN info@floridanationalnews.com.
These guidelines are subject to change. Contributors are responsible for staying updated and adhering to the most current version.
