DAYTONA 500: NASCAR EVP Says Ryan Newman’s Injuries Non-Life-Threatening

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (FNN SPORTS) – After Ryan Newman’s violent airborne wreck during the 62nd DAYTONA 500 at Daytona International Speedway within seconds of the checkered flag, Newman’s condition left a lot of questions for fans and media members alike.

At 10:30pm, NASCAR Executive Vice President Steve O’Donnell provided a brief update on Newman’s condition: He was immediately taken to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach and is currently in critical condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

O’Donnell also read a statement from Newman’s racing team, Roush Fenway Racing, asking that everyone respect his family’s privacy at this time.
