JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State Representative Tracie Davis (D- Jacksonville) issued the following statement in response to Duval County School Board’s decision to defend school-aged children from the threat of COVID-19.
“I am thankful to the school board for putting the safety of our kids first. It’s unfortunate that Governor DeSantis has chosen to stand in the way of local school leaders trying to follow the advice of experts like the American Academy of Pediatrics. Masks provide crucial protection to our children who are too young to receive the vaccine. Delta is different, and this variant has been far more dangerous to younger people, including kids. Right now, Duval County is at an extremely high risk for unvaccinated people. August has been the month with the highest average cases in Duval County.”
“I am glad the Duval County School Board is taking action to protect our children with common sense approaches to their safety.”
