UCF Uses Big Plays Against ECU To Stay Undefeated

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN SPORTS) – UCF continued their undefeated start by having eight different players score touchdowns as they improved to 5-0 by defeating East Carolina 63-21 at Spectrum Stadium on Saturday. McKenzie Milton threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns in the effort. Milton and the Knights offense didn’t take long to put points on the board. Milton found Jordan Akins on a seem route for a 48-yard touchdown not even 76 seconds into the game.

“Our team is playing together and caring about each other, and that’s so great to see.” – UCF Head Coach Scott Frost on his team’s effort

After ECU punted on their opening series, Milton led them down the field again, and this time he found defensive lineman Jamiyus Pittman on a 4-yard pass to make the score 14-0. Pittman, who had been asking Coach Scott Frost to play on offense, caught a nice one-handed pass in the flat for “his first career touchdown ever” as he stated in the post-game press conference.

UCF finished with 603 total yards and put on a show for the homecoming crowd that was enjoying Space Night at the stadium. The Knights offense was playing out of this world all night along as they achieved 33 first downs on 70 total plays. Milton also scored a touchdown on the ground as well.

It wasn’t just the offense scoring touchdowns. The Knights got a 66-yard punt return touchdown from defensive back Mike Hughes, and safety Tre Neal returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown as well.

The Knights will continue their run towards the American Conference Championship next Saturday as they take on the Navy and their triple-option offensive on the road. They return home on October 28th as they play Austin Peay.
