2018 Woodstock Film Festival is Seeking Submissions

WOODSTOCK/NEW YORK (FNN NEWS) – Source: Woodstock Film Festival // Aspiring and established filmmakers have just over two weeks left to get their submissions in for the 19th Annual Woodstock Film Festival that runs from October 10 – 14, 2018.
For almost 20 years, the Woodstock Film Festival has garnered the praise of the film industry and is noted as being “One of the top 50 film festivals in the world.” Industry ledpanels,A-list concerts, innovative programming and enthusiastic audiencescomprised of award-winning talent round out the highly attended festival. With categories including: Feature Narratives, Feature Documentaries, Shorts, Animation, Music Videos, Focus on Music, Exposure, World Cinema, Spotlight on Women, LGBTQ Focusand Hudson Valley films. The next deadline for submissions is June 14, 2018. 
“The Woodstock Film Festival combines a high quality program with a casual, down-home feel that interweaves emerging and established filmmakers in a friendly and supportive environment.” Says Meira Blaustein, Co-Founder & Executive Director of the Woodstock Film Festival, “We’re fortunate to be located close enough to New York City, yet tucked away in the mountainous Hudson Valley, which has become a bustling filmmaking and cinematic hub and a home to countless A-list artists, directors, actors and other creatives.
Woodstock Film Festival programming consists of approximately 125 films each year and the festival draws from the far reaches of Siberia and India to locally shot films right in New York’s Hudson Valley. The Woodstock Film Festival has helped to nurture and launch many emerging filmmakers, including Mark and Jay Duplass (WILD, WILD COUNTRY) with their first feature film PUFFY CHAIR, Debra Granik (WINTERS BONE) with her first feature film DOWN TO THE BONE, Andrew Bujalski (SUPPORT THE GIRLS) with his first feature film FUNNY HA HA, Leah Meyerhoff, creator of Film Fatales, with her first feature film I BELIEVE IN UNICORNS, Suzi Yoonesi (UNLOVABLE) with her first feature film DEAR LEMON LIMA, Sean Baker (THE FLORIDA PROJECT) with his first feature film THE PRINCE OF BROADWAY, and Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady (ONE OF US), whose first film together as a team at Loki Films, THE BOYS OF BARAKA, premiered at the Woodstock Film Festival, and many more.
The Woodstock Film Festival and its year-round programming and special events continually work to expand awareness of the power of film and share professional filmmaking and storytelling tools with up-and-coming movie-makers, helping them develop and produce their own innovative work. The festival presents workshops for all ages, including this summer’s upcoming Youth Film Lab, a 3 weeks film workshop intensive for local youth, taught and mentored by some of today’s most exciting filmmakers, including Roger Ross Williams, Alex Smith, Janet Grillo, David Becker, Nicole Quinn and more. Films produced at the Youth Film Lab will be showcased during the festival in October.
