CPAC 2022 Opening Day: Gov. Ron DeSantis Slams ‘Brandon Administration’ and CRT
ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN) – Florida governor Ron DeSantis hit on all of his key points during CPAC 2022 in Orlando that he’s been declaring over the past year, from slamming critical race theory to fanning his war flames against the Biden administration.
He praised his administration’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, noting Florida was the most free state.

“We protected people’s rights, we protected people’s jobs, and made sure every kid in the state of Florida had an opportunity to go to school in person,” said DeSantis. “Freedom has prevailed in the Sunshine State.”
He also said that if not for his administration’s COVID-19 response, Florida would look a lot more like Canada.

He also continued to harp on critical race theory (CRT). “We are not going to teach our children to hate themselves and hate each other.” According to WESH 2, when the governor banned CRT from being taught in classrooms, schools reported to WESH 2 that they weren’t teaching CRT.
DeSantis wrapped his speech encouraging the audience to “put on the full armor of God,” in preparation for the fight against the “Brandon administration” and the “liberal agenda.”
“You’ll be met with flaming arrows, but the shield of faith will stop them, you will emerge victorious,” he said.
By comparison to many of the CPAC speakers who followed, DeSantis didn’t mention Trump, or Russia’s attack on Ukraine. As DeSantis was speaking President Joe Biden was delivering his response to Russia’s attack.
CPAC opening day continues with a long lineup of the GOP’s biggest names, including Senator Ted Cruz and NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre. CPAC runs from Thursday, February 24 to Sunday, February 27, 2022.

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN Sports) – Russell Henley wins his first red cardigan at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, today, along with $4 million of the $20 million prize pool. The red cardigan was first awarded in 2017, in memory of Arnold Palmer who passed the year before. This is Henley’s fifth win on the PGA Tour.

Henley finished at 11 under par for the four day tournament, carding a 70 today. Collin Morikawa finished in second place at 10 under par. API defending champion, Scottie Scheffler, finished today at 4 under par, tied for 11th place.

This coming week, the top golfers head to TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, for The Players Championship. The winner will walk away with $4.5 million of the $25 million up for grabs. This is the PGA Tour’s largest regular season purse. Stay tuned to www.FloridaNationalNews.com for more.

The number one ranked golfer in the world, Scheffler finished at 15 under par for the four day tournament, carding a 66 today. Wyndham Clark finished in second place at 10 under par. API defending champion, Kurt Kitayama, did not make the cut, this weekend, finishing 7 over par after the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday.
