ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – President Donald Trump’s area chairman Randy Ross is considering another bid for Orange County GOP leadership according to a released by Ross Friday.
Statement Released By Randy Ross:
What we need right now is measurable experience to bring a new level of energy and enthusiasm to OCREC. If we learned anything during this last election cycle, it was that Orange County is not the same as it was 20 years ago. We were caught off-guard, under-prepared, and simply in need of a breath of fresh air. We cannot win, even nonpartisan elections, if we don’t strengthen our bench and game plan.
Should I decide to run, after further discussions with OCREC members this weekend, I recognize that there will be some who will push back against a new direction. Then again, if it were easy, everyone would do it. The very definition of insanity is our continuing to do things as we always have expecting different results.
“Politics is an additions game,” as one of my best friends suggests. We must focus on additions versus subtractions to the organization and Republican movement in Orange County. There’s a real need for our OCREC organization to take a close look at the changing demographics of Orlando. With a good knowledge of the changing trends, we can better determine how we can build bridges and mend fences with sects of the population we are not reaching. Like any business, we need a strategic plan. A model that will last into the future!
There are over 212,000 registered Republicans in Orange County and we have a bench of less than 200 OCREC members to help get Republican candidates to the finish line. It’s time NOW to prepare for the 2020 Super Bowl and that requires proven leadership. This year I celebrate 25 years in Orlando. I look forward to sharing what that quarter-century of experience means in helping our organization.
Should I ultimately decide not to run, I do wish all who choose to run the best of luck in your bids. Remember, you’re running to improve an organization and movement in Orange County; it’s an awesome responsibility and opportunity to make a real difference.
I leave you with this…. in 2016 I all but begged leadership in the State to allow the creation of a Trump effort. NO ONE in OCREC took on that charge. Not only did we win the primary, we did something no one thought possible… we helped get a President elected. This ambition and perseverance, in my opinion, will matter to the members of OCREC. Because winning…at any level …. isn’t always easy or popular.
Make Orange County Red Again,
Randy Ross
