FNN News Names Kareen Kennedy Assistant Editor

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – Florida National News is thrilled to announce that Associate Entertainment Editor Kareen Kennedy will be joining the news outlet’s senior management team as Assistant Editor.

Florida National News founder and publisher J Willie David, III announced Kennedy’s appointment to this new position, effective immediately. “We’re confident that Kareen’s proven management skills, as well as her ability to lead in a fast-paced news environment, will make her a great addition to the outstanding Florida National News senior management team,” said David Wednesday.

Kennedy’s top responsibility will be building a stronger team for Florida National News by recruiting and overseeing quality social media marketers, content writers and community managers contributors to bolster FNN News’s Social Media team, and increasing audience engagement across FNN News’s social media network. “I am grateful for this opportunity to serve FNN News in this capacity,” said Kennedy. “This is yet another indicator of the growth and opportunities available within FNN News. I look forward to all the great work ahead with an amazingly talented team.”

Kennedy’s other duties will include assisting the Editor in overseeing Associate Editors, team training and enhancing overall team performance.

Florida National News is reshaping the main functions in the Editor’s office and in Sales, expanding new leadership roles to oversee operations, training, talent and finance. Each has an important responsibility in ensuring that the newsroom has what it needs to produce and publish the top notch journalism that viewers and readers expect from Florida National News.

Kennedy joined Florida National News in 2019, bringing over 30 years of customer service experience in the corporate world with major employers such as BlueCrossBlueShield and Liberty Mutual Insurance.
Her strengths include project management, employee engagement, event coordination, process improvement, team leadership and team training.

Her media experience includes working for two years as Copy Editor for Orlando/Atlanta-based RYSE Magazine, hosting RYSE events, public speaking and hosting award ceremonies. She was also content contributor for the Caribbean American Passport news magazine, which is distributed statewide.

Kareen Kennedy hails from Kingston, Jamaica and immigrated to Bronx, New York. She also lived in Massachusetts and Rhode Island before settling in Florida.
The multi-passionate mom of two has an acting background in theater, film and commercials. She has performed at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, the Lowndes Shakespeare Center and MadCow Theater.
“Kareen is a go-getter with a strong sense of structure and abundance of ideas,” said Mellissa Thomas, Florida National News Editor. “I look forward to working with her to build and push our team forward in 2020, and with the scope of our upcoming projects, we’re thrilled to have her in this position.”
She is currently pursuing a Communications degree at UCF, which she’ll complete in 2021.
