Orange County’s “Don’t Pitch It-Fix It!” Event Urges Residents to Salvage Stuff

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – Orange County’s Environmental Protection Division is celebrating National Pollution Prevention Week by saving Orange County residents major time, money and trash with its “Don’t Pitch It, Fix It!” community event at Blanchard Park YMCA Family Center Saturday morning. OCEPD staff, volunteers, and partners, including Orange Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor Daisy Morales, helped inform Orange County residents about what the OCEPD does and how important it to reduce landfill waste.

OCEPD staff and volunteers repaired electronics, machines, sports gear (including bicycles) and even clothing free of charge.

OCEPD saved Orange residents money, time, and ultimately the environment by salvaging what would have been landfill trash.

Don’t Pitch It – Fix It!, initiated by the City of Winter Park and Winter Park Library, is a community repair workshop in partnership with Orange County and the City of Orlando.
