Jerry Demings Lands Key Endorsements From Buddy Dyer, Linda Chapin and Glenda Hood
ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings lands key endorsements from Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, former Orange County Chair (Mayor) Linda Chapin, and former Orlando Mayor Glenda Hood in his campaign for Orange County Mayor.
The endorsements include statements from Dyer, Hood and Chapin which were announced in a written release on Wednesday by Demings’ campaign.
Dyer says Demings has a proven track record of how to get things done.
“Over the last 30 years, I have had the distinct honor of working alongside Jerry Demings and have seen first hand his commitment to making our community a stronger, safer place to live. I am proud to stand with him and officially endorse his candidacy for Orange County Mayor.”
Chapin says Demings understand the complexity of the office.
“I am supporting Jerry Demings for Orange County Mayor because of his history of service to our community. In addition to his experience as Sheriff and as a top administrator in Orange County Government, he is an outstanding mentor and advocate for our young people.”
Hood says she is confident Jerry Demings is a strong leader with the skills to get the job done. “I am honored to endorse Sheriff Jerry L. Demings for the office of Mayor of Orange County.” Hood expressed that she was honored to appoint Demings as the first African American police chief.
“He championed several programs for safe and crime free neighborhoods. He was fiscally responsible and had a passion to help children and the elderly,” she added.
Teresa Jacobs is the current mayor of Orange County. She can not run for re-election due to term limits.
Demings faces Commissioner Pete Clarke, businessman Rob Panepinto, Jose Datil Colom and Robert Edward Melanson to become the next mayor of Orange County. The nonpartisan election is set for August 28, 2018, according to the Orange County Supervisor of Elections office.
ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN Sports) – Russell Henley wins his first red cardigan at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, today, along with $4 million of the $20 million prize pool. The red cardigan was first awarded in 2017, in memory of Arnold Palmer who passed the year before. This is Henley’s fifth win on the PGA Tour.

Henley finished at 11 under par for the four day tournament, carding a 70 today. Collin Morikawa finished in second place at 10 under par. API defending champion, Scottie Scheffler, finished today at 4 under par, tied for 11th place.

This coming week, the top golfers head to TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, for The Players Championship. The winner will walk away with $4.5 million of the $25 million up for grabs. This is the PGA Tour’s largest regular season purse. Stay tuned to www.FloridaNationalNews.com for more.

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN Sports) – Scottie Scheffler wins his second red cardigan at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, today, along with $4 million of the $20 million prize pool. The red cardigan was first awarded in 2017, in memory of Arnold Palmer who passed the year before. Scheffler first won the API in 2022.

The number one ranked golfer in the world, Scheffler finished at 15 under par for the four day tournament, carding a 66 today. Wyndham Clark finished in second place at 10 under par. API defending champion, Kurt Kitayama, did not make the cut, this weekend, finishing 7 over par after the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday.
