Johanna López Endosred By AFL-CIO In Orange County School Board Race
ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) — Colonial High School teacher Johanna López has been endorsed by the Central Florida AFL-CIO in her bid for Orange County School Board District 2 seat, Lopez’s campaign announced Tuesday.
The Central Florida AFL-CIO, a group of more than 100 local unions in the public and private sector that represents over 70,000 workers in Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties
“Teachers, as workers, are in a unique position where they are able to elect the bosses that they negotiate with. As such, in our current political climate where educators are under attack at all levels of government, we are proud to stand with all of the candidates for school board endorsed by the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association and we will do everything in our power to make sure they have a seat and a voice on our school board come August” Eric Clinton, President of the Central Florida AFL-CIO, stated in a released by Lopez’s campaign.
This is the second union endorsement for López, who received an early endorsement from the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association (OCCTA) in April.
López stated, “Growing up in a working-class family, I have experienced what it means to live paycheck-to-paycheck and feeling ignored. That’s why, as a School Board member, I will be a champion for every single OCPS employee – from the janitors and bus drivers to the teachers and administrators. Our workers deserve to be heard!”
She continued, “As a union member, I am honored to have the support of the Central Florida AFL-CIO and of the labor community in this historic race. With this endorsement, our people-powered campaign will continue to take our message of change to the residents of District 2.”
Lopez, along with Sara Au, Jacqueline Centeno, David Grimm, Chadwick Hardee, and Eric Martin will face off for the open District 2 seat in the August 28 primary election.
ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN Sports) – Russell Henley wins his first red cardigan at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, today, along with $4 million of the $20 million prize pool. The red cardigan was first awarded in 2017, in memory of Arnold Palmer who passed the year before. This is Henley’s fifth win on the PGA Tour.

Henley finished at 11 under par for the four day tournament, carding a 70 today. Collin Morikawa finished in second place at 10 under par. API defending champion, Scottie Scheffler, finished today at 4 under par, tied for 11th place.

This coming week, the top golfers head to TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, for The Players Championship. The winner will walk away with $4.5 million of the $25 million up for grabs. This is the PGA Tour’s largest regular season purse. Stay tuned to www.FloridaNationalNews.com for more.

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN Sports) – Scottie Scheffler wins his second red cardigan at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, today, along with $4 million of the $20 million prize pool. The red cardigan was first awarded in 2017, in memory of Arnold Palmer who passed the year before. Scheffler first won the API in 2022.

The number one ranked golfer in the world, Scheffler finished at 15 under par for the four day tournament, carding a 66 today. Wyndham Clark finished in second place at 10 under par. API defending champion, Kurt Kitayama, did not make the cut, this weekend, finishing 7 over par after the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday.
