Orlando City SC Announces 2019 MLS Broadcast Talent

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando City SC has announced its television, streaming and radio broadcast talent for the 2019 Major League Soccer (MLS) campaign.

The broadcast lineup on the television side includes newcomer Evan Weston on play-by-play, with returners Paul Shaw and Miguel Gallardo as color analysts, and Jenny Chiu as the sideline reporter. Sergio Ruiz Torres and Israel Heredia will continue to call radio matches in Spanish, with Bruce Silverman and Robbie Aristodemo calling matches in English, and Scott Harris returning on the sideline.

On the heels of a newly-announced multi-year partnership with WOFL/FOX35, WRBW/My65 will serve as the flagship station for all City’s locally-televised games, while YouTube TV, Orlando’s exclusive streaming partner, will broadcast all of the Lions’ nationally and locally televised MLS regular season matches. In 2019, 30 of Orlando’s 34 regular-season matches will air within the FOX family, including FOX35, My65, FOX and FS1.

Radio coverage for City will be provided in both English and Spanish during the 2019 season. La Nueva 990 AM will serve as the home for Orlando City Spanish radio, while FM 96.9 The Game or Real Radio 104.1 FM will have English coverage all season long.

2019 Orlando City Broadcast Talent Lineup:

Evan Weston, TV Play-by-Play

Evan Weston will enter his first season at the helm of play-by-play duties for City on the television side of the production. Weston enters his third season overall with the Club, spending the previous two years as the play-by-play voice on English radio. Weston, 25, is a graduate of Syracuse University and has called over 50 Orlando City, Orlando Pride and Orlando City B games.
Paul Shaw, TV Color Analyst
Paul Shaw returns to the booth as the Club’s color analyst for the 2019 season. Also serving as the Club’s Youth Soccer Technical Director & Director of Coaching, Shaw played over 450 professional games in a career that spanned over 20 years. Shaw, a former Arsenal midfielder featured under Arsene Wenger in Champions League play and later, as the first Englishman to play in Hungary, captained Ferencvaros to a second division title by a record 17 points.
Miguel Gallardo, TV Color Analyst
Former Orlando City goalkeeper Miguel Gallardo returns for a third season as a color analyst. At the professional level, Gallardo captained Orlando and appeared in 81 matches for City from 2011-2014. A fan-favorite, he was named USL Pro All-League in 2011 and 2012. Following Orlando City, the Mexico native played for the NASL’s Jacksonville Armada and MASL’s Florida Tropics. Gallardo works closely with the Orlando City SC Foundation in conjunction with his broadcast responsibilities.
Jenny Chiu, Sideline Reporter
Jenny Chiu returns to the broadcast team for her first full season. The El Paso, Texas native joined City midway through the 2018 season, serving as the Club’s sideline reporter and digital host. Chiu has an extensive soccer background as a former U.S. and Mexican youth national team member who played collegiate soccer at perennial powerhouse University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
Sergio Ruiz Torres, Spanish Radio Play-by-Play
Sergio Ruiz Torres returns to the booth as the Spanish play-by-play voice of Orlando City SC. Ruiz enters his fifth season at the helm on La Nueva 990 AM. The native of Venezuela also serves as an anchor for Telemundo Orlando and previously broadcast World Cup qualifying, Copa America and Copa Libertadores matches.
Israel Heredia, Spanish Radio Color Analyst
Israel Heredia also returns for his fifth season in the booth for the Spanish broadcast. Heredia will serve as the color analyst for La Nueva 990 AM for all of Orlando City’s matches this season. Prior to Orlando City, Heredia called matches for 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying, Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamerica matches for the Ecuador national team.
Bruce Silverman, English Radio Play-by-Play
Bruce Silverman will begin his first season with Orlando City in 2019. A 29-year veteran journalist, Silverman began his career covering the University of Georgia Bulldogs in 1989 as a television sports anchor in Athens, Ga. Silverman has worked in television and radio as an anchor/reporter, as a column writer and play-by-play. Silverman was most recently the play-by-play voice of the NASL’s Miami FC.
Robbie Aristodemo, English Radio Color Analyst
Robbie Aristodemo joins Orlando City SC as the Club’s color analyst on the English radio broadcast Aristodemo became a mainstay in Canadian soccer at a very early age, playing at the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Japan and later at the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship in Malaysia. At the senior level, Aristodemo earned seven caps and was part of Canada’s squad that won their first CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2000. At the Club level, the Ontario native had a stint with Seattle Sounders FC and has been a mainstay in the indoor game, appearing for the San Diego Shockers, Cleveland Force, Baltimore Blast and is currently a member of the Florida Tropics. Aristodemo also serves as a coach at Montverde Academy.
Scott Harris, English Radio Sideline
Local radio personality Scott Harris will continue with Orlando City, as 2019 marks his fifth season on the sideline for Orlando’s English radio broadcast. Beyond his work with the Club, Harris is an assistant program director for FM 96.9 The Game.

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN Sports) – Russell Henley wins his first red cardigan at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, today, along with $4 million of the $20 million prize pool. The red cardigan was first awarded in 2017, in memory of Arnold Palmer who passed the year before. This is Henley’s fifth win on the PGA Tour.

Henley finished at 11 under par for the four day tournament, carding a 70 today. Collin Morikawa finished in second place at 10 under par. API defending champion, Scottie Scheffler, finished today at 4 under par, tied for 11th place.

This coming week, the top golfers head to TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, for The Players Championship. The winner will walk away with $4.5 million of the $25 million up for grabs. This is the PGA Tour’s largest regular season purse. Stay tuned to www.FloridaNationalNews.com for more.

UCF Hall of Fame Inductee Shaquem Griffin Launches Search For Greatness Combine With Joey Grant and GMTM

Former UCF football players Shaquem Griffin and Joey Grant have partnered with GMTM to launch their Search for Greatness Combine at UCF on Saturday, November 9th. They’re giving local athletes a chance to showcase their talents and explore new sports opportunities. Griffin will be inducted into the UCF Hall of Fame on Saturday, November 2nd, during halftime of the Arizona vs. UCF football game. He is remembered for his tenacity, setting an NFL Combine record with the fastest 40-yard dash by a linebacker, and playing four seasons in the NFL, overcoming the challenge of only having one hand. He is now training to make the USA Paralympic Track and Field Team and hopes to compete in the 2028 Olympics. Joey Grant, the co-founder and CEO of GMTM, is a former UCF team captain, playing mostly Center for the Knights from 2011-2015.

Participation at the upcoming combine is free and invite-only, targeting athletes over the age of 18. To be considered, athletes must submit a highlight video via GMTM’s platform, showcasing their athleticism. GMTM will evaluate submissions and invite the most promising athletes to participate in the combine. The goal for this year’s event is to get 1,000 athletes to submit videos and be part of the combine process. Athletes chosen will receive personalized invites with further instructions, including event time slots and details. The athletes will be evaluated for their key athletic traits, to identify opportunities for them across multiple Olympic sports or professional sports programs. Scottie Scheffler Wins Second Red Cardigan at 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN Sports) – Scottie Scheffler wins his second red cardigan at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, today, along with $4 million of the $20 million prize pool. The red cardigan was first awarded in 2017, in memory of Arnold Palmer who passed the year before. Scheffler first won the API in 2022.

The number one ranked golfer in the world, Scheffler finished at 15 under par for the four day tournament, carding a 66 today. Wyndham Clark finished in second place at 10 under par. API defending champion, Kurt Kitayama, did not make the cut, this weekend, finishing 7 over par after the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday.

This coming week, the top golfers head to TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, for the 50th anniversary of The Players Championship.
