Orlando Magic Unveil Latest Iteration of Nike NBA City Edition Uniform to Celebrate 35th Season
Published
2 years agoon
ORLANDO, Fla. – In continuing to recognize and honor the Orlando Magic and the city of Orlando as a unique kingdom on the rise, the latest iteration of the Magic’s Nike NBA City Edition uniform has been unveiled today by the team.
The uniform continues to honor the city with the wordmark “Orlando” remaining across the chest. This year’s version celebrates the Magic’s 35th anniversary season with an iconic retro star in place of the “A” as a nod to the team’s uniform roots. The style features a new, all-blue look with the returning subtle metallic gray accent evoking a suit of armor to display strength and fortitude. The armor is representative of the Magic players battling on the court, fighting to protect its kingdom along with the pride and resiliency of the city of Orlando and its fans turning the page in the story of a Kingdom on the Rise.
Utilizing the gothic font in “Orlando” on the front of the uniform is a nod to not only the city but its fans as well, representative of the team battling for its beloved “sixth man” and the city they represent with pride. The themes of this year’s City Edition design represent pride in the city and its fans, the fight and fortitude of the players, and resiliency as the team continues to rise.
The Nike NBA City Edition uniform will debut during the 2023-24 Magic season at the November 6 game when the Magic host the Dallas Mavericks. The Magic will wear the Nike NBA City Edition uniform at 10 home games this season, including the team’s In-Season Tournament games and will transform the Amway Center with a new look in the Magic’s home arena to match the story of the uniform.
The 2023-24 Nike NBA City Edition Uniforms, in its seventh season, were designed to represent the stories, history and heritage that make each franchise unique — honoring the inherent bond between court, community and culture.
The Magic’s previous Nike NBA City Edition uniform was unveiled in 2019 with an orange theme representing what Orlando is famous for – sunshine and citrus. The team wore variations of the orange theme for its city uniform from 2019-2022.
This is the fifth and final uniform in the Magic’s collection this season. The team’s other four uniforms include Nike NBA Statement (blue), Icon (black) and Association (white) and the recently unveiled Classic Edition (blue). The uniforms were developed through a collaborative effort between the team and its players, the NBA, and Nike.
An entire catalog of the Magic’s uniforms since the team’s inception in 1989 can be found here.
The new Nike NBA City Edition uniforms will be available for purchase on Oct. 27 at the Orlando Magic Team Shop at Amway Center and online beginning Nov. 2 at www.orlandomagicshop.com.
