Senator Linda Stewart Calls For Stop To Exploratory Assessment Of Central Florida For Migrant Children Shelters

ORLANDO, Fla. – Senator Linda Stewart (D-Orlando) in a letter called upon Governor Ron DeSantis to halt the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement’s exploratory assessment of Central Florida properties.

Senator Stewart requested that the Governor use his influence and authority to steer away another immigration facility from the state.

“This practice of separating children from their families is inhumane and leaves them scarred for the rest of their lives. We do not possess the capability to, nor should we open another facility. This process is flawed, inhumane, and provides inadequate care to children,” said Stewart.
