KISSIMMEE, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – On Monday, May 20th at 9:30 am, U.S. Reps. Darren Soto and Brian Mast will hold a press event to announce introduction of the Improving Veterans Access to Congressional Services Act, legislation to streamline the opening of Congressional offices inside Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities across the nation. The legislation requires the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to permit the use of VA Hospitals facilities by Members of Congress for the purposes of meeting with constituents and resolving veteran-related casework.
Congressmen Soto and Mast are currently the only Members of the Florida delegation with district offices focused on veterans and constituent casework located directly inside VA Hospitals in their districts, opened in West Palm Beach VA in January 2018 and in Lake Nova VA in August 2018. The Improving Veterans Access to Congressional Services Act would remove roadblocks and establish standard operating procedures to facilitate opening new congressional offices within VA Hospitals.
