2024 LIV Golf Chicago to Decide Individual Champion and Key Season Races

Willie DavidBOLINGBROOK, IL (FNN SPORTS) – The 2024 LIV Golf League season is approaching its final two events, with LIV Golf Chicago set to determine critical outcomes from September 13-15 at Bolingbrook Golf Club. This week, the season-long individual championship between Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann, final team seeding for the Team Championship, and players’ bids to secure their 2025 league spots will be decided.
Rahm vs. Niemann for the Individual Title
Legion XIII Captain Jon Rahm, who has been dominant all season with five top-3 finishes, holds a slight lead over Torque GC Captain Joaquin Niemann by just 2.97 points. Rahm will secure the individual championship if he finishes ahead of or tied with Niemann inside the top 15 at Chicago. However, Niemann can take the title with any top-3 finish if he finishes higher than Rahm. Both players are guaranteed to finish on the season-ending podium.
Race for Third Place
Five players are battling for third place in the standings, led by Legion XIII’s Tyrrell Hatton, who is 8 points ahead of Fireballs GC Captain Sergio Garcia. With major champions like Louis Oosthuizen, Cameron Smith, and Brooks Koepka also in the mix, the third-place spot is up for grabs, depending on Chicago results.
Lock Zone for 2025
The top 24 players in the current points standings will secure their spots in the 2025 LIV Golf League. However, players just inside the top 24, including Charl Schwartzel and Sebastián Muñoz, are at risk of dropping out. Those outside the Lock Zone, ranked 25th through 47th, still have a chance to secure their place with strong performances in Chicago.
Teams Fight for Championship Byes
Crushers GC and Legion XIII have already secured two of the three first-round byes for the upcoming Dallas Team Championship, leaving Ripper GC, Smash GC, and Torque GC to compete for the final bye. A win by any of these teams in Chicago could alter the standings and playoff seeding.
LIV Golf Chicago kicks off at Bolingbrook Golf Club on Friday, September 13, at 12:15 pm CDT.

October 30, 2025By
Willie DavidLONDON & NEW YORK (FNN SPORTS) – The LIV Golf League has officially entered its offseason transfer window, giving team captains and general managers the opportunity to reshape their rosters ahead of what promises to be the biggest and most competitive season yet in 2026.
This crucial period allows teams to secure players who finished in the Top 24 of the individual standings (Lock Zone), offer contract extensions to those in the Open Zone, and make strategic trades, free-agent signings, or recruitments from new talent pools, including the LIV Golf Promotions and International Series.
A Dynamic Offseason for Teams and Players
The offseason marks a time of transformation across the league, with several teams losing key players while others seek to strengthen their lineups. Captains and general managers now have the chance to evaluate talent and build squads capable of contending for championships in 2026.
HyFlyers GC Captain Phil Mickelson shared his excitement about the roster window:
“Every team has the chance to re-evaluate and build something special in the offseason, just like in other major sports. It keeps fans invested and engaged, and there’s terrific excitement heading into next year.”
He added, “Losing a player on HyFlyers GC this season opens the door to bring in someone who can elevate our team even more. I love the culture we’ve built, and I’m excited to add to our camaraderie and commitment to championship-caliber golf.”
Individual Standings Determine Player Status
LIV Golf’s Individual Championship standings play a key role in determining each player’s status:
Lock Zone (Top 24): Guaranteed a roster spot in 2026, with at least a one-year contract extension offer.
Open Zone (25–48): Players may be re-signed, traded, or enter free agency.
Drop Zone (49+): Players are relegated but can requalify through LIV Golf Promotions or the International Series.
Spanish superstar Jon Rahm capped an impressive 2025 season by claiming both the Individual Title and the Team Championship with Legion XIII, followed by Joaquin Niemann (Torque GC) and Bryson DeChambeau (Crushers GC).

Free Agency, Trades, and the Road to 2026
Free agency includes Lock Zone players declining extensions, Open Zone players without renewed contracts, or external recruits. Teams can also pursue trades or sign talent from the Asian Tour-sanctioned International Series, which continues to serve as a key pipeline for rising players.

42 Million Americans Face Food Insecurity as SNAP Ends; No Kings Alliance Mobilizes Communities
Published
2 days agoon
October 30, 2025WASHINGTON, D.C. (FNN) – With the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) officially ending on November 1, more than 42 million Americans, including 16 million children and 8 million seniors, are expected to lose access to food assistance. The No Kings Alliance, the new rapid response arm of the No Kings movement, is calling for a nationwide mutual aid response to prevent widespread hunger and hardship.
1. National Food Aid Crisis
The Trump Administration’s decision to halt SNAP funding has left millions at risk of food insecurity. As a result, 25 states have filed lawsuits against the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), accusing the agency of unlawfully withholding critical food aid funding. The loss of SNAP will have devastating impacts on vulnerable families across the country, particularly those already struggling with inflation and rising food costs.
2. No Kings Alliance Mobilizes Communities
In response, the No Kings Alliance is urging Americans to take immediate action by supporting local food banks, shelters, and mutual aid networks. The organization outlined three key ways to make a difference:
Donate to local food banks: Financial contributions help provide direct aid to families impacted by the SNAP shutdown.
Collect and distribute supplies: Donate food, clothing, menstrual products, and essentials to local shelters and community aid groups.
Host a give-back drive: Organize food or supply drives in your neighborhood. Visit NoKings.org to learn how to get started.
3. Building Resistance and Solidarity
The No Kings Alliance emphasizes its commitment to nonviolent action and collective resistance to what it calls “authoritarian power grabs” by the Trump Administration. The group plans to announce regular opportunities for direct action and mutual aid through its online platform at NoKings.org/alliance.

California Governor Gavin Newsom Says He’ll “Seriously Consider” 2028 Presidential Run

October 27, 2025By
Willie DavidLOS ANGELES, Calif. (FNN) – Florida National News has learned that California Governor Gavin Newsom, a prominent Democratic critic of President Donald Trump, says he will seriously consider running for president in 2028 after the midterm elections next year.
When asked during an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” whether it would be fair to say he’d give a 2028 campaign serious thought following the November 2026 vote, the term-limited governor replied, “I’d be lying otherwise.”
Newsom Raises National Profile Ahead of 2028
Governor Newsom has been steadily building his national presence, adopting a more combative communication style that mirrors Trump’s social media approach — featuring bold, all-caps posts, memes, and merchandise. His strategy aims to position himself as a strong Democratic voice on the national stage.
Newsom has frequently clashed with Trump on key political issues, including the deployment of the California National Guard following immigration protests and redistricting disputes in Texas. In response, he has spearheaded a campaign to redraw California’s own congressional maps, seeking to add five new Democratic U.S. House seats.
Voting on California’s Proposition 50, a measure linked to this redistricting effort, is currently underway and will conclude November 4.
