2015 International Christian Film Festival kicked off in Orlando

ORLANDO, FL – The 2015 International Christian Film Festival opened at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Downtown Orlando last night. Organizers selected 23 feature films, 21 short films, 17 documentaries, and 8 music videos from around the world for the three day competition. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from top industry professionals at several workshops and network with filmmakers, writers, producers, actors and more. The film festival will run from April 23 to 25.
“The festival will focus on showcasing some of the best Christian films from around the globe and educating on the positive, uplifting aspects of filmmaking,” stated Marty Jean-Louis, Executive Director, International Christian Film Festival. The festival received over 400 entries from around the world.
The Masked Saint, The UnMiracle, Genesis, Adrenaline, The First Stone, and Child of Grace are nominated for best picture for this year’s film competition. The Christian film awards ceremony is Saturday, April 25, 2015. All nominations and award categories are listed below in this article.

Roses a short film and The Black Rider: Revelation Road a feature film were selected by organizers to light up the big screen for Thursday opening night. Actress Hilty Bowen is nominated for best actress for her role in The Black Rider: Revelation Road also attended opening night ceremony.
The Florida National News ran into one of Hollywood’s famed Baldwin brothers, Actor Stephen Baldwin who also attended the opening night ceremony. He is known for his role in The Usual Suspects (1995), The Young Riders (1989) and Born on the Fourth of July (1989). Baldwin is staring in The UnMiracle a feature film nominated for Best Picture. He is also nominated for best actor. The screening of The UnMiracle is set for Saturday, August 25, at 2:45 pm in the Grand Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Another known Hollywood actor is also scheduled to attend the film festival. Actor Ernie Hudson is know for his role in The Ghostbusters (1984), The Crow (1994), OZ HBO TV Series (1997) and Miss Congeniality (2000). Hudson is staring in Gallows Road a feature film nominated for Best Screenplay. He is also nominated for Best Actor. The screening of Gallows Road is set for Friday, August 24, at 10:00 am in the Grand Ballroom also at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Mina Cheng a film director from New York is among several filmmakers attending this year’s film festival. Cheng’s short film Ransomed is nominated for best screenplay.
Here’s the run down on “Ransomed” director Cheng shared with the Florida National News. “To earn million dollars in few days without robbing, stealing or killing, is this really possible? Besides winning the lottery, are there any other ways? Howard, a high school student, wants to get out of his stressful life situation. Under the instigation from his friends, he decides to kidnap his neighbor’s daughter. In the end, who is truly ransomed?”

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) –Ananda Lewis, the charismatic MTV VJ and talk show host, passed away on June 11, 2025, at the age of 52, after a courageous battle with stage 4 breast cancer. Her sister, Lakshmi Emory, confirmed the news, sharing that Ananda passed away peacefully in her Los Angeles home.

Born on March 21, 1973, in San Diego, California, Lewis rose to prominence in the late 1990s as a VJ on MTV, hosting shows like Total Request Live and Hot Zone. Her engaging personality and insightful interviews made her a beloved figure among viewers, and she earned accolades such as an NAACP Image Award for her work on BET’s Teen Summit.
