Democratic Leaders Rally Rural North Florida Voters, Warn of Economic Disaster Under Trump

Willie DavidTALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FNN) – On Sunday, prominent Democratic leaders, including North Carolina Congressman Wiley Nickel, state Representative Dianne Hart, state Senate candidate Daryl Parks, and Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried, embarked on a North Florida rural tour.
The group visited Madison, Suwannee, and Columbia counties, where they rallied voters and emphasized the critical stakes of the 2024 election. The tour spotlighted Vice President Kamala Harris’ plans to lower costs and build an opportunity-driven economy, while warning of the devastating consequences if Donald Trump were re-elected.
Congressman Nickel met with over 300 local residents, making a sharp contrast between the Harris-Walz ticket and Trump’s Project 2025, a far-right agenda that would give Trump unprecedented authority to undermine key programs like Social Security, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act.
“North Florida is energized about the Harris-Walz campaign—I’ve seen it firsthand,” said Congressman Nickel. “When I worked with Kamala Harris to expand credit access for communities of color and support small businesses, I witnessed her commitment to everyday Americans. Trump, on the other hand, would raise prices, hurt the middle class, and benefit billionaires.”
State Representative Dianne Hart echoed this sentiment, urging voters to back Harris for a brighter future. “Voting for Kamala Harris isn’t just about progress, it’s about finally booting Trump out of politics for good,” said Hart. “We need to spread her message and Governor Walz’ plan across every county, especially rural areas, because we’re not going back.”
State Senate District 3 candidate Daryl Parks spoke of Harris’ appeal in North Florida, noting her readiness to lead and deliver for working families. “Vice President Harris has energized these communities because she’s the only candidate with a real plan to lower costs and create opportunities. She’s ready to lead us to victory up and down the ballot.”
The tour left local voters with a stark choice: a hopeful future with Harris and Walz or economic disaster under Trump’s leadership.

April 3, 2026TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FNN) — The Florida Legislative Black Caucus says it is aware of recent calls for the impeachment of Tiffany Baker-Carper following the signing of Missy’s Law, according to a press statement released by the caucus.
The caucus acknowledged the seriousness of the concerns raised but emphasized that impeachment should remain a constitutional process rather than a political response.
“We recognize the gravity of these concerns and the importance of accountability in public service,” the statement said. “However, we must be equally clear: impeachment is a constitutional remedy, not a political reaction.”
Facts Before Force
The caucus stated that any consideration of impeachment must be grounded in verified evidence rather than speculation or political pressure.
“Impeachment must be based on verified evidence,” the statement said. “The integrity of our democratic institutions depends on a disciplined commitment to truth.”
Due Process and Fairness
Members of the caucus also stressed the importance of due process and the presumption of innocence.
“Every individual — regardless of position — is entitled to fairness, due process and the presumption of innocence,” the statement said. “Rushing to impeachment without a complete factual record undermines the very justice we seek to uphold.”
Transparency and Public Trust
The caucus said Floridians deserve transparency and clarity as the situation unfolds.
“Any actions taken must be conducted openly, with findings made available to the public to ensure confidence in the outcome,” the statement said.
The caucus urged lawmakers and stakeholders to avoid premature political escalation and instead follow a responsible process that balances accountability with justice.
The Florida Legislative Black Caucus said it will continue monitoring developments and advocate for a process that reflects the highest standards of governance.
