Rep. Demings Honors Juneteenth on House Floor

Washington, D.C.: Rep. Val Demings (FL-10) last night spoke on the House floor in recognition of Juneteenth. Juneteenth will be celebrated on Saturday, June 19. Rep. Demings extolled listeners to “carry the torch of freedom” in what Coretta Scott King called the “never-ending” struggle for freedom in every generation.

We must also celebrate freedom from discrimination. We must also celebrate freedom from racism. We must also celebrate freedom from poverty. We must also celebrate freedom from injustice. And we must also celebrate freedom from complacency.”
