ST. PETERSBURG — Today, Jacksonville Senator Audrey Gibson, former Democratic Leader of the Florida Senate, endorsed Charlie Crist for governor of Florida, citing Charlie’s experience as a public servant, and his record on education, healthcare, and voting rights restoration.
Senator Gibson made the following statement:
“Who represents you matters — and this election is an important opportunity for the entire state of Florida. Charlie Crist has an extensive background on how to do the right thing for our state and is the leader we need in Tallahassee.
“Charlie Crist knows that the state is responsible for the education of our children and won’t pass the buck on making sure that every student gets a world class education. Charlie understands justice — he believes in redemption and rehabilitation when it comes to restoring voting rights, and unlike those who came after him, he’ll act to help and forgive Floridians, not hurt them.
“Charlie knows and believes healthcare is important, not just for those who can afford it, but for the wellbeing of our entire state. Charlie Crist knows the issues facing our diverse state, and won’t stop until we build a better tomorrow. I’m proud to endorse Charlie to be our next Governor of Florida.”
Charlie Crist released the following statement in response:
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of my fellow Florida State University alum and former Democratic Senate Leader Audrey Gibson. Our campaign continues to move forward on the path to create a Florida for all. Together we can deliver on our promise to unseat Governor DeSantis and put the people back in charge.”
