The Lions opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Martín Ojeda buried a left-footed strike off an indirect free kick delivered by Luis Muriel. The goal marked Ojeda’s 10th of the season, tying him for the team lead, and extended his goal contribution streak to seven consecutive matches — a new club record. Muriel’s assist was his sixth of the season and his third in the last two matches.
Defensively, Orlando controlled the match, limiting Montréal without a shot on target until the 83rd minute, when a penalty kick was awarded to the visitors. Prince Owusu converted from the spot to level the match and ultimately split the points.

Magic’s Summer League Comeback Falls Short Against Kings, 84-81

LAS VEGAS, NV (FNN SPORTS) – The Orlando Magic’s first game of the 2025 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas was a roller coaster of runs, rallies, and resilience, ultimately falling to the Sacramento Kings, 84-81, Thursday night.
Slow Start Dooms Magic Early
The Magic’s offense struggled to find a rhythm in the opening half, scoring just 12 points in the first quarter and enduring a brutal eight-minute scoreless stretch. That drought allowed the Kings to surge ahead by as many as 17 points. Sacramento capitalized on Orlando’s early turnovers and cold shooting to seize momentum.
Richardson, Da Silva Spark Second-Half Rally
Despite the sluggish start, the Magic mounted an impressive comeback in the second half, led by rookie first-round pick Jase Richardson and 2024 first-rounder Tristan Da Silva. Richardson, son of two-time NBA Slam Dunk Champion Jason Richardson, left the game briefly in the third quarter after an awkward fall but returned to deliver in crunch time.
Richardson hit two tough finishes at the rim in the final minutes, including a game-tying layup with 1:27 remaining. He finished with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 2-for-3 from three-point range.
Da Silva, who started 38 games for Orlando last season, showed veteran poise, leading the team with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and a block. The 6’8” forward from Germany also knocked down a critical three-pointer late in the game.
Additional contributors included Ethan Thompson, an undrafted guard from Oregon State, who added 16 points with three triples, and Skal Labissière, a former Kings first-round pick, who contributed 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks off the bench.
Kings Hold On Behind Clifford and Raynaud
Sacramento countered every Orlando surge with balanced scoring and clutch performances from their prospects. First-round pick Nique Clifford paced the Kings with 17 points, including two go-ahead buckets in the final minute. Clifford’s ability to draw fouls and his savvy pump-fake drives kept the Magic defense on its heels.
Second-round pick Maxine Raynaud, a 7’1” center from France, made an early impact by scoring 11 of the Kings’ first 14 points and finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
Mason Jones, a recent NBA G League champion, matched Clifford’s team-high 17 points, adding 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Isaac Jones filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block.
UP NEXT:
The Kings will face the Chicago Bulls on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. EST, while the Magic take on the Toronto Raptors on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. EST.

Orlando Magic Sign Paolo Banchero to Multi-Year Contract Extension

FNN SPORTS
ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN SPORTS) — The Orlando Magic announced today that they have signed forward Paolo Banchero to a contract extension. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We are thrilled to keep Paolo Banchero in a Magic uniform for years to come,” said Jeff Weltman, President of Basketball Operations for the Magic. “At just 22, he’s already an NBA Rookie of the Year, an All-Star, and one of the brightest young stars in the league. This agreement reflects our belief in Paolo’s talent, leadership, and his commitment to winning in Orlando, as well as his belief in this organization and our city.”
Banchero’s Standout Season and Historic Milestones
The 6’10”, 250-pound forward had an exceptional season in 2024-25, playing and starting in 46 games while averaging 25.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. Banchero became one of only three players in NBA history — alongside LeBron James and Luka Doncic — to compile 4,000+ points, 1,300+ rebounds, and 900+ assists before the age of 23.
Notably, Banchero became the fourth player in Magic history to score 50 or more points in a game, recording a career-high 50 points against Indiana on October 28. He also logged 20+ points in 20 consecutive games and had a five-game streak of 30+ points, tying for the fourth-longest in franchise history. His outstanding performance earned him NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors for the period ending March 30.
Playoff Heroics and Franchise Records
Banchero elevated his game during the postseason, starting in five playoff games and averaging 29.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. He scored 25+ points in seven consecutive playoff games, tying legends Kobe Bryant and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the longest streak before turning 23.
He also became one of only two players in Magic history — along with Tracy McGrady — to record three or more 30+ point playoff games in multiple series.
Rising Star Since Day One
Selected by Orlando as the first overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Banchero has played in 198 career regular-season games, averaging 22.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per contest. His accolades include the 2022-23 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year, 2023-24 NBA All-Star, and two-time NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors.
Before entering the NBA, Banchero starred at Duke University, where he was named ACC Freshman of the Year, earned multiple All-America selections, and led the Blue Devils to the 2022 NCAA Final Four.
