Scheffler shot 70-73-68-72—-283 to edge 2020 tournament champion Tyrrell Hatton, third-round co-leader Billy Horschel and Viktor Hovland, who each mounted a legitimate challenge for the eventual champion. Scheffler’s win at API was followed by a win at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, earning him his first No. 1 ranking. He went on to win the Masters and was named the 2022 PGA TOUR player of the year. He most recently defended his title at the WM Phoenix Open, returning briefly to No. 1 in the world.

Thirty-two players in the field have participated in the Arnold Palmer Cup collegiate tournament, including Patrick Cantlay, Rickie Fowler, Billy Horschel, Morikawa, Rahm, Thomas and Will Zalatoris. Also included in the AP Cup alumni list are sponsor exemptions Ludvig Aberg, Pierceson Coody and Justin Suh. Aberg is a standout senior at Texas Tech and the 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup exemption. Coody, a 2020 and 2021 Arnold Palmer Cup participant, is a graduate of the University of Texas and a two-time winner on the Korn Ferry Tour this year. Suh, a standout amateur at USC, was a member of the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup U.S. team and was voted by his peers to receive an exemption into the 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational.

“The field at this year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard is stellar,” said Drew Donovan, Tournament Director for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. “Having nine of the Top 10 players and more than 25 of the Top 30 promises a spectacular tournament. We are thrilled to host these top players and give Central Florida fans a chance to see the best of the best at Bay Hill.”

With an increased purse of $20 million, the Arnold Palmer Invitational will award $3,600,000 and 550 FedExCup points to its 2023 champion.

BELLEAIR, Fla. (FNN) – The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair tees off Wednesday, 11/13 with a Pro-Am featuring WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark. The tournament runs Thursday through Sunday, as the LPGA golfers compete for their share of a $3.25 million purse, while also trying to secure their spot in the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship. It’s the fifth year of competition for this tournament, named after Annika Sorenstam, who is one of just two players to currently have a tournament named after her on the PGA Tour. Proceeds from this tournament benefit the ANNIKA Foundation, which aims to develop, empower, and advance young women around the world through golf and in life.

The field of 120 includes Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu, Lydia Ko, Brittany Lincicome, and many more top golfers. Annika Sorenstam will particpate in the Pro-Am, but the appearance of Caitlin Clark has certainly boosted ticket sales, and helped to sell out tickets for the Women’s Leadership Summit, where Clark spoke Tuesday.

Back-to-back hurricanes knocked down 40 trees and left twenty inches of rain on the fairways and greens for days. But the course is ready for this weekend’s tournament.
