ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (FNN) – Democratic firebrand and former U.S. Representative from Florida’s 8th and 9th Districts Alan Grayson announced his endorsement of Rick Singh for re-election as Orange County Property Appraiser.
“Rick Singh is an accomplished and tireless warrior for Orange County’s taxpayers. Because of his record in standing up against special interests, Rick Singh is a ‘Profile In Courage’ in Central Florida. He is absolutely fearless, and I’m so proud to endorse him – the Appraiser with Guts,” said Grayson. “As home to the largest theme parks in the world, as well as hundreds of resort, hotel, and entertainment and dining properties, Orange County’s real estate marketplace is among the most complex in the world. Rick Singh is the only State Certified Property Appraiser ever to hold the office and is the only qualified candidate running. Rick Singh shows NO FEAR and gives NO FAVORS. He is an Appraiser with Guts.”
Said Singh, “I am personally and politically thankful for the awesome endorsement of Congressman Grayson, and to announce that ‘The Congressman with Guts’ has endorsed ‘The Appraiser with Guts.’ Congressman Grayson has been with me from day one – literally. I am so blessed that he has invested in my race with his time, money, and kind words of encouragement.
“So much of Orange County’s budget – including funding for law enforcement, teacher salaries, infrastructure and more – depends upon the fair and accurate assessment of these theme parks and mega properties… this is a process that big business fight[s] vigorously. It takes tremendous expertise and political will to appraise these operations, and to have those appraisals upheld – this is not a job for a novice politician. Just as we’ve elected a CPA as Comptroller, and a law enforcement professional as Sheriff, we need a skilled, certified Property Appraiser to serve in the critical role of Orange County Property Appraiser.”
The announcement was posted on Singh’s campaign Facebook page.
In April, Grayson filed to run as a write-in candidate in Florida’s 6th District congressional race against incumbent Congressman Michael Waltz.
