ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN) – The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reports responding to a call to the 2500 block of Egret Shores Drive at 1:37am Monday morning, where deputies found former Orlando Magic player Adreian Payne shot. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
OCSO reports that the shooter, later identified as Lawrence Dority, stayed at the scene and was transported to OCSO headquarters where he was interviewed by homicide detectives. Dority has been arrested on a warrant for First Degree Murder and transported to the Orange County Jail.
Payne played in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Orlando Magic as well as for several European and Asian teams. Payne also played college basketball for Michigan State University.
