EATONVILLE, Fla. – At 81 years old, George Clinton, whose career started as a member of a Doo-Wop band influenced by Frankie Lyman & The Teenagers, has spanned over 60 years. He and his band Parliament Funkadelic are known globally for blending a cornucopia of music genres to create an original sound that is often imitated but never duplicated. Clinton and his band members’ work has influenced, been borrowed from, and has been sampled by an astonishing list of rap and funk rock artists including Public Enemy, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Red Hot Chili Peppers, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, and a host of others.

Clinton’s reputation as a creative mastermind not only touches on his being a talented bandleader. It also includes his visionary artistry as a writer, producer, and consummate performer. And, his flamboyant personal fashion statements are considered nothing short of legendary.

On Saturday, June 4th, Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic will headline ZORA! 2022 Outdoor Festival of the Arts. Kim Waters and Tom Browne are featured guest performers on Sunday, June 5th.

ZORA! Outdoor Festival of the Arts begins on June 3rd and features programming for youth. All festival events take place in “The Preserve in Eatonville,” which is a natural habitat that has a historic and literary connection to Zora Neale Hurston.

Additional ZORA! Festival 2022 programmatic events are “Traditions” Weekend: Middle and High School Students Celebrate Black Music Month, happening June-17-18; and “HATitude! Cultural Flair,” an African and African American design event on October 29. HATitude! TAMPA, Fla. (FNN) – “Fight Night in Tampa” is set to take place Saturday April 9th at Calta’s 24 Hr. Fitness in Tampa. The event is organized by Tarver Promotions and Antonio Tarver Sr., 1996 Olympic Bronze Medalist and World Boxing Champion. Tarver Sr., who has a wealth of knowledge and experience outside of the ring, couldn’t ask for a better fit for the main event than his son Antonio Tarver Jr. and fight veteran Donnis Reed in an eight-round contest.

“We at Tarver Promotions feel that 2022 is the year Antonio Tarver Jr. separates himself from the rest and April 9th starts the race to the title,” Tarver Sr. said. “This is our first show so I’ve had to learn a lot on the fly, but I’ve enjoyed the process and we hope that this is the first of many. We want to bring this community together in support of the young man that dreams of one day becoming champion.”

It’s a special moment as Tarver Sr. passes the torch to his son, but will be close to all the action as the main coach in his corner. Tarver Jr., who grew up in Central Florida, is presumably on the “fast track to success” at 34 years old. He is currently 8-0 with 5 KO’s and looks to step up in competition and in ranking seeking to challenge other high profile names and contenders in the Jr. Middleweight Division.

Tarver Jr. possesses a fan-friendly southpaw style with power in both hands, but is noted for his relentless body attack that’s sure to keep the crowd on their feet. His nickname is “T2,” but Mr. Excitement might be more fitting.

For the veteran Reed, he is one upset away from making a name for himself.
