Published

on

Washington, D.C. (FNN) – National Governors Association (NGA) Chair Governor Jared Polis of Colorado and Vice Chair Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma issued a statement today condemning the violent attack at yesterday’s rally and expressing their condolences and support:

“On behalf of America’s Governors, we are relieved to hear that President Trump is well following this terrible act of violence. However, we are deeply saddened by the tragic death of an individual and the injuries sustained by two others during the rally. Violence is never acceptable and has no place in our society. Our thoughts and prayers are with the former President, the victims, and their families during this difficult time.

We commend the Secret Service and law enforcement for their swift and effective response in containing the situation and preventing further harm. Their dedication and quick actions undoubtedly saved lives and ensured the safety of many.

This incident is a stark reminder of the need for unity and the importance of standing together against acts of violence. We urge all Americans to reflect on the values of peace and respect that define our nation. It is through understanding and dialogue that we can overcome differences and build a safer, more cohesive society.

We also call for a thorough investigation to understand the motives behind this attack and to ensure justice is served. It is crucial that we address the root causes of such violence to prevent future tragedies.

As leaders, we remain committed to promoting a culture of non-violence and to working tirelessly to protect the safety and well-being of all our citizens. Together, we must reaffirm our commitment to the principles of democracy and the rule of law, which are the cornerstones of our nation.

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this senseless act, and we stand in solidarity with them as we navigate through this challenging time. Let us honor the victims by coming together and fostering a community where peace and safety prevail.”

President Trump Launches ‘Make America Beautiful Again’ Conservation Commission

Published

on

WASHINGTON, D.C. (FNN) — President Donald J. Trump officially signed an executive order on July 3, 2025, establishing the President’s Make America Beautiful Again Commission, a new federal initiative aimed at restoring and conserving America’s natural landscapes, public lands, and national parks while expanding outdoor recreation opportunities for Americans.

The order, announced by the White House, outlines priorities for improving conservation management, cutting regulatory delays, and expanding public access to federal lands for activities such as hiking, fishing, hunting, boating, and wildlife viewing.

New Commission to Focus on Conservation and Outdoor Heritage

Under the executive order, the newly formed Make America Beautiful Again Commission will be chaired by the Secretary of the Interior, with the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy serving as Executive Director. The Commission will include top officials from the Departments of Defense, Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Office of Management and Budget, and other key federal agencies.

The Commission’s responsibilities will include monitoring implementation of the order, advising the President on conservation priorities, and facilitating interagency coordination for public land and waterway management.

Restoring Access to Public Lands and Outdoor Recreation

A key focus of the executive order is expanding access to public lands, waterways, and recreational areas that have been limited by land-use restrictions and deferred maintenance issues. The administration cited a backlog of over $33 billion in deferred maintenance between the National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service, contributing to deteriorating roads, trails, and historic landmarks.

Since the signing of the Great American Outdoors Act, the outdoor recreation economy has grown significantly, supporting 5 million jobs and contributing $1.2 trillion in economic output, according to the order. The Commission aims to build on that momentum by restoring access and promoting sustainable recreation policies.

Cutting Red Tape and Encouraging Voluntary Conservation

The executive order instructs federal land management agencies to cut bureaucratic delays, expand access, and prioritize responsible natural resource stewardship. It emphasizes collaboration over regulation by encouraging voluntary, on-the-ground conservation efforts with state agencies, hunters, fishers, hikers, and private stakeholders.

Among its duties, the Commission will also recommend strategies for restoring aquatic ecosystems, improving clean drinking water access, and recovering native fish and wildlife populations through proactive conservation initiatives.

Florida National News to Track Conservation, Policy Rollout

Florida National News (FNN) will monitor the progress of the Make America Beautiful Again Commission, including its recommendations to the President, conservation initiatives in Florida’s parks and coastal areas, and potential impacts on public land access and natural resources in the Southeast.

The order emphasizes that all actions must be conducted within the limits of existing law and budgetary appropriations, and expressly notes that it does not create legally enforceable rights for any party.

Trump Says He’ll ‘Look’ at Deporting Musk, Threatens to “Put DOGE on Elon” as Feud Reignites

Published

on

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FNN) – President Donald Trump confirmed Tuesday that he will “have to take a look” at the possibility of deporting Elon Musk—despite Musk being a naturalized U.S. citizen—while renewing his feud over Musk’s vocal criticisms of Trump’s latest spending bill .

“We might have to put DOGE on Elon”

Trump explained that the Department of Government Efficiency—known as DOGE and once helmed by Musk—may be tasked with scrutinizing the subsidies granted to Musk’s companies, including Tesla and SpaceX. “If DOGE looks at Musk, we’re going to save a fortune,” he told reporters.

Trump reignites the rift over the “Big Beautiful Bill”

The confrontation stems from Musk’s public condemnation of Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill”—a sweeping spending and tax package passed narrowly in the Senate. Musk labeled the legislation “outrageous” and “pork-filled,” accusing Republicans of “political suicide.” Trump reacted sharply, threatening to pull federal contracts and subsidies, and suggesting Musk should “head back home to South Africa”.

Legal and political complexities

While Trump “acknowledged that Musk is a U.S. citizen,” he added diplomatically, “We’ll have to take a look.” However, legal experts emphasize that a deportation effort would be exceedingly complicated—if not impossible—without due process. Analysts also warn that targeting Musk could jeopardize critical federal partnerships in space and clean-energy sectors.

Market ripple effects and what’s next

The renewed tension had immediate market repercussions: Tesla shares dropped roughly 5% amid investor anxiety over threatened subsidies. Looking ahead:

  • DOGE may launch formal audits of Musk’s companies.

  • Trump could seek to revoke federal contracts with Tesla and SpaceX.

  • Musk has hinted at supporting primary challenges to Republicans who backed the bill—potentially deepening the political fracture.
