PALM BEACH, Fla. (FNN) – The Harris-Walz campaign is set to launch the “Fighting for Reproductive Freedom” Bus Tour on Tuesday in Palm Beach. The tour will feature Senator Amy Klobuchar, Harris-Walz campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Republican TV personality Ana Navarro, and reproductive rights storyteller Anya Cook.

The tour’s kickoff in Palm Beach—just days after Trump endorsed Florida’s near-total abortion ban—highlights the pressing issue of reproductive rights. The tour will begin in Trump’s own backyard, where women are directly impacted by the abortion ban made possible by the overturning of Roe v. Wade, a move Trump endorsed. The bus will then head to Jacksonville, continuing through at least 50 stops across key states this fall, reaching both blue and red communities, underscoring the bipartisan support for reproductive rights.

Each stop will emphasize the contrast between Vice President Harris and Governor Walz’s fight to restore reproductive freedom nationwide, and the Trump-Vance agenda, which includes banning abortion nationwide, restricting access to birth control, monitoring miscarriages and abortions, and threatening access to IVF.

TAMPA, Fla. (FNN) – During the Chairman’s Dinner at the annual VISIT FLORIDA Governor’s Conference on Tourism, Carol Dover, President and CEO of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA), was honored with induction into the Florida Tourism Hall of Fame. This prestigious recognition celebrates Dover’s impactful leadership over three decades, shaping Florida’s $112 billion hospitality industry and advocating for the state’s status as a top global tourist destination.

Since its inception in 2001, the VISIT FLORIDA Tourism Hall of Fame has acknowledged individuals whose vision and creativity have significantly advanced Florida’s tourism industry. Carol Dover joins the ranks of these distinguished figures.

“I am deeply honored to be inducted into the Florida Tourism Hall of Fame,” said Carol Dover, President & CEO of FRLA. “This recognition is not just a reflection of my individual efforts but a testament to the unwavering support of my faith, family, and the incredible dedication of our team. Over the past 30 years, our collective vision and hard work have shaped the hospitality and tourism industry in profound ways. This achievement is as much a celebration of their commitment as it is of my own. I am truly grateful for this distinction and look forward to continuing our journey of excellence together.”

Dover’s tenure at FRLA has been marked by numerous victories for the hospitality industry, including the repeal of the alcohol beverage tax, which has saved Florida’s hotels and restaurants billions of dollars. She has also been a fierce advocate for VISIT FLORIDA funding and has protected the use of Tourist Development Taxes to further promote Florida tourism. In response to crises like the BP Oil Spill, hurricanes, and the COVID-19 pandemic, Dover created events that generated hundreds of millions in economic impact, supporting jobs and businesses across the state.

Carol Dover’s leadership extends beyond advocacy. She relocated the Florida Restaurant Association from Hollywood to Tallahassee, merging it with the Florida Hotel & Motel Association in 2006 to form the powerful FRLA. Under her guidance, the Florida ProStart Program has grown to be the largest in the nation, with over 215 schools and 30,000 students annually, investing in the future of Florida’s hospitality industry.

Her influence also reaches into equine tourism, expanding the Florida Horse Park and establishing Ocala as the Horse Capital of the World ®. Dover’s promotion of equestrian events has contributed to a $12.8 billion economic impact for Florida.

FRLA, under Dover’s leadership, continues to protect, educate, and promote the hospitality and tourism industry in Florida, supporting the success of its over 10,000 members.

Florida Senate Candidate Stanley Campbell Celebrates National Night Out and His Role in Capturing the BTK Killer

Published

MIAMI, Fla. (FNN) – National Night Out on August 6th is a special occasion for Stanley Campbell, a U.S. Senate candidate renowned for his pivotal role in the capture of the BTK Killer, one of America’s most notorious serial murderers. Campbell’s predictive analytics software was instrumental in the FBI’s 2005 arrest of Dennis Rader, the BTK Killer, who was responsible for ten murders over three decades.

Campbell’s technology narrowed down the suspect pool from over a million to just one within 68 days, leading to Rader’s capture. Rader, a seemingly ordinary church-goer, was apprehended and is now serving ten life sentences at the El Dorado Correctional Facility in Kansas.

National Night Out, which promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood safety, resonates deeply with Campbell. “Working with law enforcement to apprehend and prosecute criminals who terrorize our communities is incredibly rewarding,” said Campbell. As he campaigns to unseat U.S. Senator Rick Scott and potentially become Florida’s first Black U.S. Senator, Campbell’s dedication to public safety is a cornerstone of his platform.

Campbell’s story has drawn Hollywood interest, with screenwriter Gregory Allen Howard once planning a film about the BTK case. Terrence Howard was set to portray Campbell, and Eric Bana was cast as the detective involved in the case.

Despite criticism from opponents, Campbell remains focused on his campaign, receiving endorsements from major organizations including the AFL-CIO, the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida, and the Broward International Union of Police Associations (IUPA).

A seasoned IT entrepreneur with decades of experience in data management, intelligence, and healthcare, Campbell is also a former naval aviator and NASA analyst. He and his wife Cheryl own and operate the Martin Downs Golf Club in Palm City, and he continues to fight Medicare fraud through his healthcare company.
